May 31, 2012 Review

I was given the opportunity from to try out one of their corsets.

It was a beautiful white corset with matching undies perfect for a bride to wear under her wedding gown or if you are getting ready for prom, or simply an evening out.

The corset I was given was a beautiful satin white with a string cinched back for a perfect fit.  It was slightly padded with under wires for support.  It fit very snug, as it should, and was beautiful (Sure it would have looked better on someone else).'s corsets are very reasonably priced for the quality you are getting.  You could pay lots more at any other places like bridal shops or catalogs or those expensive places in the mall but, in my opinion, they would not be the same quality as you would receive from for the price.

Another thing I really liked about this particular corset was that it buttoned on the side rather than the back or front as well as tied down the back so you could easily get it on and off and make it fit comfortably.

The corset is SO white that it gleams in the flash.
All the lace and bows make it very beautiful.

You could also wear your Corset as top or, under a shirt for going out or if you need a something extra under a shirt that may be too thin or low cut.  CorsetChick also have a wide variety of corsets and accessories made to wear as tops by themselves. And, they offer free shipping to orders over $50.

I highly recommend their site and products for brides, bridesmaids, proms or anyone looking for a great corset or other lingerie products.

Hotel from Hell

The story of probably the worst hotel (actually second worst but I don't have photos from the first one) that we have ever stayed at.

My husbands grandfather passed away a few weeks ago.  He had been suffering from Emphysema for years and went into the hospital after he took a turn for the worst.  He passed away a few days later.  Family members including his wife agreed it was for the best.  I hope he is enjoying himself in Heaven and feeling no more pain.

Hubby was a pallbearer and we had to make a 3hr drive down to where they lived for the funeral.  We decided to go the night before so we wouldn't be late (like that worked, we were still late).  Having no hotel reservations we had my mom looking up some places. We pulled into the "Travelers Inn" and all I kept saying was how I wanted to swim in the pool and go relax.  Well, the pool was bone dry and there were weirdo's standing around outside everywhere.  SO, I politely drove away from the Travelers Inn.

Needing fuel for the SUV and ourselves we stopped at a local gas station (which was pretty gangsta) and got some drinks/snacks/gas.  Hubby asked a few of the patron which hotel in the area was the best.  I think either this town is hurting for a Hampton Inn or they were playing a cruel joke.

They sent us to the "Budget Inn" which was a mile or so down the road.  Looked okay from the outside.  I said "Go check the price and ask if we can see a room" meanwhile I find an awesome hotel on my phone (too bad I had been driving and couldn't search earlier).  Hubby comes back with keys in hand.  First thought..uh oh.

Upon entering we find this of course we carried our junk in with us so it was a little late and yeah, we always take a DeWalt light wherever we go:

I think this was a not so hidden camera so the creepy desk people could spy on us.  Like that movie with Kate Beckinsale and whatshisname..

In place of a bath mat, I'm pretty sure this was an 11x17 piece of paper.

The bathroom was NASTY!  Glad we both showered before we left home!

This was the A/C unit.  Glad it wasn't too hot because it only made noise.

Of course the first thing I asked hubby to do was the bed/bedbug check.
Looked okay at first.

But, of course hearing the stories of how hotels never wash the comforter.  I looked closer and what did I find?  Yep, blood.  It was definitely blood. I bet if we moved the bed there was crime scene chalk.

The place was just gross.  The carpet had not been vacummed or cleaned, ever.
I didn't take my shoes off and wanted to get our money back and leave to
go off to the hotel I had found earlier.
But it was late and it also was over $100 more/night.

So, being the nice wife that I am, I forced hubby to go with me 2 miles down the road to Walmart and buy sleeping bags and flip flops. :)  He quickly obliged.  Now we both have some $2 camo flops and..

$15 green sleeping bags.

So, the $40 Budget Inn room cost more like $75 but we slept and got to spend time after the funeral with hubby's sweet grandmother the next afternoon.

Moral: Steer clear of Budget Inn's or, ask to see the room first. ;

This Old House Magazine & Me!!

I'm so excited to announce that I will (most likely unless they cut me in the next week or so) be published in This Old House Magazine!

If you are a regular reader, then you would have seen the post from a few months ago when the magazine held a few different competitions, one for renovations and one that was sort of a trash-to-treasure type contest.

I'm soo happy to say that my pallet chair project was chosen to be featured in their July edition!  (I want to make it clear that I did NOT win) it's more of an "honorable mention" but still, I'm going to be in their magazine which I LOVE!  So, go buy one!!

It should hit news stands around the middle of June.  The photos aren't the greatest but, at the same time I had no idea that one day they might include them in "This Old House" magazine or perhaps I would have been more careful with my photography (and dressed better).  But, honestly I have no idea what it will include except they told me it would be around 1/3 of a page.

Even though I didn't win, I'm super excited that they liked the pallet chairs and that I will be a part of their magazine which I enjoy reading every month.  That is enough for me!

If you would like me to autograph your copy, feel free to send it to me. ; )

Earth Naturals Hyrda Mask Review and Giveaway

I posted a few weeks ago about wanting to try out the Earth Natural's Hydra Mask  and was sent a full size sample to try out.  Earth Naturals their facial mask to try out and do a review of.  It's made from apple stem cells and chamomile for crying out loud!

I love things natural and eco-friendly.  Of course their products are not tested on animals and are made in the good ole' US of A. Which to me is a huge plus. The mask promised to:
  • Provided immediate relief for dry, thirsty skin
  • Restore healthy glow, youthful appearance, and soft texture
  • Bathe skin in life giving nutrients - aloe, chamomile, apple stem cells

I absolutely loved the mask. It was a little tingly after it had been on a few minutes but a nice refreshing feel.  It's sort of thick but I didn't mind that either.  It felt as if my skin was being instantly nourished.

The generous folks over at is giving one lucky reader the opportunity to make your own skin more nourished and youthful looking- naturally. : )

To enter, just leave a comment below stating why you want to try the Earth Natural's Hydra Mask.  You can leave an additional comment if you are a follower of the blog or follow me on twitter.
